1.M/o Railways Commission 2 nd Vistadome Coach Funded by M/o Tourism :-

The Ministry of Railways has commissioned the second Vistadome Coach, funded by the Ministry of Tourism, on the Jan Shatabdi Express plying on the scenic Mumbai-Goa Route, to provide a panoramic view of the picturesque Western Ghats.
The Vistadome Coach boasts of a glass roof which has electrically controlled opalescence, that is, it can be made transparent or opaque at the turn of a switch.

Passengers wanting a better view can head for a special observation deck. All seats are rotatable by 360o and are pushback chairs.

The coaches are fitted with automatic sliding compartment doors, multiple TV screens and wider body side door.

 

2.Textiles Minister Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani inaugurates VASTRA 2017 :-

The Union Minister for Textiles and Information & Broadcasting, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani has said that textile is not just an industry, but also a tradition and a legacy which we present to the world through the magic of India’s handcrafts and machines.

Speaking about the success of the mega textiles event Textiles India 2017, the Minister said that Textiles India was an effort not only of the Government; she said that it was an effort of the entire industry that wanted to tell the world in one voice, “Come, Make in India”. She added that nothing better says Make in India than Textiles in India.

 

3.Prime Minister to Flag Off Third Mahamana Express to Run between Varanasi and Vadodara on 22nd September 2017 :-

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flag off Third Mahamana Express on 22nd September, 2017 to run between Varanasi and Vadodara through video conferencing from Varanasi. On this occasion, Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal, Dy.

Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Nitinbhai Patel will be present at Vadodara station, while Shri Manoj Sinha, Minister of State for Railways & Minister of Communications (Independent Charge) Govt. of India, will be present at Surat Railway station.

 

4.Union Home Minister inaugurates two-day NHRC National Seminar on Good Governance, Development and Human Rights :-

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said that in Indian culture, the focus has always been on duties and not on rights; if everybody attends to his duties, the rights of all automatically get protected. He was addressing at a National seminar on Good Governance, Development and Human Rights, organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) here today.

He said that the concept of Human Rights in the centuries old Indian ethos is rooted in peace, unlike the West where it shaped up with conflict post- World War-II. The concept of protection of Human Rights in India is linked with the wellbeing of the whole universe, wherein all elements live in mutual coexistence peacefully. This, he said, reflects even in our spiritual and divine invocations.

 

5.India reaffirms need for early reforms in UNSC; Condemns terrorism in all forms :-

India has strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said, there can be no justification for any act of terrorism. She said connectivity with the SCO countries is India’s priority.

Mrs Swaraj said India wants connectivity to pave the way for cooperation and trust between our societies. She also said India, as a member of SCO, will cooperate extensively to further consolidate the SCO as an effective regional platform.

 

6.Myanmar’s Suu Kyi condemns human rights violations in Rakhine :-

Myanmar’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi has condemned all human rights violations in the country saying that the government is committed to a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.

In her first address to the nation on the violence in the Rakhine state, the State Counsellor said in Nay Pyi Taw that Myanmar did not fear international scrutiny and is making every effort to restore peace and stability. She said, anyone responsible for abuses in Rakhine would face the law.

 

7.40 million people trapped in modern slavery: UN report :-

United Nations said, an estimated 40 million people, mostly women and girls, are trapped in modern slavery and 152 million children are subject to child labour.
According to a UN report published during the UN General Assembly yesterday among 40 million people trapped in modern slavery, 29 million are women and girls.
The report said one in four victims of modern slavery are children which totals about 10 million. The report said that some 152 million children, including 64 million girls and 88 million boys, are subject to child labour, accounting for almost one in ten children around the world.

 

8.50% of train tickets purchased in cash in India: Study :-

Fifty per cent of train tickets in the country are still purchased in cash, thanks to the dependence on neighbourhood ticketing agents, said a study.
RailYatri, a web-based firm that provides various rail and bus based solutions, conducted the study among 50,000 travellers across 25 cities and consulted around 800 travel agents.

9.AAI to take up development works at 4 airports :-

Airport Authority of India (AAI) will undertake new development works at Lucknow, Deoghar, Rajkot and Allahabad airports to improve the infrastructure to meet growing traffic demands.
The AAI plans to construct new integrated passenger terminal building at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow at an estimated cost of 1230 crore rupees.

 

10.No daily allowance for employees to travel on LTC: Govt :-

Central government employees will not get a daily allowance on Leave Travel Concession (LTC), according to an official order.

The LTC allows the grant of leave and ticket reimbursement to employees who are entitled under the rules to travel to their home towns and other places.

 

11.Finally, Narayan Rane quits Congress  :-

Ending months of speculation, Congress strongman in Maharashtra Narayan Rane on Thursday formally announced his resignation from the party, ending his decade plus-long association with the party.

Mr. Rane resigned from the primary membership of the Congress besides stepping down from his seat in the Legislative Council.
