1.PM dedicates Sardar Sarovar Dam to the nation; attends closing ceremony of Narmada Mahotsav at Dabhoi :-

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, dedicated the Sardar Sarovar Dam to the nation. The occasion was marked by prayers and chanting of hymns at the Dam at Kevadia. The Prime Minister unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

Later, the Prime Minister visited the construction site of the Statue of Unity, an iconic structure dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, at Sadhu Bet, a short distance from the Sardar Sarovar Dam. He was given an overview of the progress of work at the site.

At a large public meeting in Dabhoi, the Prime Minister unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of the National Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum. The occasion also marked the closing ceremony of the Narmada Mahotsav, which generated awareness about the River Narmada, in various districts of Gujarat.

 

2.Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign in Delhi Cantonment  :-

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign from 15 Sep to 02 Oct 2017, a function was organized by Delhi Cantonment Board on 17 Sep in which Hon’ble Defence Minister, Smt Nirmala Sitharaman was the Chief Guest.

The function began with an Oath taking ceremony administered to all the attendees including senior Officials from the Army and Ministry of Defence. Smartly turned out soldiers who are residents of the Cantonment were also present for the event in large numbers.

The Defence Minister flagged off the new garbage collection vehicles provided to the Cantonment Board under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

 

3.HUA Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri to reach out all RWAs in Delhi on waste segregation at source :-

Underlining the importance of solid waste management for ensuring a clean Urban India over the next two years, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri will reach out to all the Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) in the national capital urging them to ensure segregation of municipal waste at the source  of its generation.

Shri Puri today participated in the ‘Swacchata Hi Sewa’ campaign wielding broom at the Sarojini Nagar Market in the NDMC area.

Later, speaking to senior officials of his ministry and NDMC, representatives of Market Association, general public and sanitation workers, he expressed serious concern over the garbage crisis in Delhi.

 

4.M/O Tourism Organises “ Swachhta Hi Seva” Campaign at India Gate :-

Ministry of Tourism organised “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign at India Gate today. Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism Shri Alphons Kannanthanam along with Senior officers of Ministry of Tourism participated in the campaign.

Prime Minister has called upon the nation to begin a campaign, ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’, ‘Cleanliness is Service’, from 15th September 2017 to 2nd October 2017.

 

5.New metro policy issue for expansion of Metro network across the country :-

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has released a new Metro policy for the expansion of the metro network in different cities of the country.

The Union Cabinet last month approved this policy. Mr. Puri released a new Metro Rail Policy on Saturday in New Delhi.

 

6.Nawaz Sharif’s petition will be dismissed in the Supreme Court, facing trial :-

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif , his family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for reviewing the disqualification decision in the Panama Papers scandal .

Nawaz Sharif , his children and finance minister Ishaq Dar, had filed separate petitions challenging the July 28 verdict of the apex court. In the Supreme Court, the judge of the five-judge bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa took a hearing on the review petition of the court’s July 28 verdict.

 

7.China performs unmanned helicopter demonstration :-

China demonstrated its first unmanned Fighter Helicopter AV 500W as part of its efforts to increase its military purchases abroad. An exhibition was organized in the North-East Tianjin City for foreign buyers , in which the helicopter AV 500W was demonstrated.

This information was given in the media report on Friday. Government Aircraft Manufacturer Aviation Industry Corps of China (AVIC) performed in the fourth ‘China Helicopter Expo’ of this detective co-combat helicopter. Government newspaper ‘China Daily’ said 7 .

This 2 meter long helicopter has been developed and manufactured at AVIC Helicopter Research and Development Institute in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. It can fly with a maximum weight of 450 kg.

Its maximum speed is 170 kilometers per hour. It can be up to a height of 4000 meters. This helicopter has the capacity to carry weapons and equipment weighing 120 kilograms.

 

8.Air India launches direct airline for New Delhi from Copenhagen :-

Air India launched a direct airline from New Delhi on Saturday for the Copenhagen capital of Denmark. This is the eleventh service for Air India’s Europe.

It is being told to add Maharaja with the Meremed. Air India’s direct service between Copenhagen from New Delhi landed in Copenhagen after a more than seven-and-a-half-year journey. According to the tradition of Air India, there were all women in the crew in the new service aircraft.

Dream liner aircraft will leave for Copenhagen from New Delhi on Tuesdays , Thursdays and Saturdays. Copenhagen is the 44th destination for Air India for foreigners.

An Air India official said that the service has been suspended till Moscow and it will start again in October.

 

9.India’s exports grew 10.29 percent in August :-

The country’s exports grew by  10.29 percent in August this year  and it increased to  23 billion and  81  million dollars  .

This growth has been recorded by increasing the export of chemicals ,  petroleum and engineering products.

According to the figures released by the Ministry of Commerce yesterday , exports of products worth  23  billion and  81  million dollars in the country in August were exported.

In the same period last year, however, the export of value was $  21  billion 59  crores. In May this year, there was an eight per cent increase in exports and four to three nine percent in June. Imports also increased by  21.02 percent in August  .

 

10.PV Sindhu became the first Indian badminton player to win Korea Open Super Series :-

  1. V. Sindhu has become the first Indian badminton player to win Korea Open Super Series. Today, in the final in Seoul, he defeated Japanese Nozomi Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 in a tough match. With today’s victory, Sindhu also calculated the loss of Okuhara in the final of the World Championship last month.

In the collision of about one and a half hour, both the players started their life for one point each. In the third game, Okuhara was behind 6-13, but he made a spectacular return to score 18-18.

The longest rally in this game lasted for 56 shots. This is the second Super Series and the third overall of this year. Earlier he had won the India Open Super Series and Syed Modi GP Gold title. After this win the record of both the players has been four-four.

 

11.International Cricket Council gave shock to Pakistan :-

Satisfied with the successful hosting of the World XI team in the Independence Cup in Lahore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) here on Saturday said that the return of international cricket in Pakistan can not be done in a miraculous way.

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said in a video message that the return of international cricket in Pakistan will not take place overnight , it will take time. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) final was the first step in that direction and the tour of the World XI was the second.

He said that we have shown that a T-20 format match can be organized in a city here. Now the next step has to be taken , which involves making tournaments in more than one city. The next step may also be that a full member of the ICC will visit the country.
