1.Harinder Pal Sandhu Wins South Australian Open Squash Title :-

India’s Harinder Pal Sandhu has defeated Rhys Dowling of Australia 11-8 12-10 11-4 to lift South Australian Open squash title.

This will be Sandhu’s first PSA tournament victory in Australia. South Australian Open squash title is on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) international circuit. This victory will be Sandhu’s third this season after winning two in Malaysia in May.

 

2.UNESCO puts city of Hebron on its heritage in danger list :-

UNESCO has declared the Old City of Hebron an endangered world heritage site, sparking outrage from Israel in a new spat at the international body.

Meeting in Poland, the UN’s cultural arm voted 12 to three — with six abstentions — to give heritage status to Hebron’s Old City in the occupied West Bank, which is home to more than 200,000 Palestinians and a few hundred Israeli settlers.

 

3.India plans to invite Leaders of ASEAN countries for 2018 Republic Day celebrations :-

India has planned to invite the ten leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as Chief Guests for 2018 Republic Day celebrations.

This Plan has come at a time when India is engaged in a stand-off with China in the Sikkim sector.

If invited Republic Day 2018 would be the first Republic Day event that will have so many leaders as the chief guests.

 

4.World Bank: India emerging as front-runner in fight against Climate Change :-

The World Bank has observed that India is emerging as a frontrunner in the fight against climate change.

It has noted that India is gradually replacing coal energy with solar power as a source of energy.

 

5.India and Bangladesh have decided to construct bridge along Mizoram Border :-

India and Bangladesh have decided to construct a bridge over Mizoram’s Khawthlangtuipui river (also known as Karnaphuli river) to facilitate trade and to improve communication between the two countries.

The decision was taken after officials from both the side met at Tlabung town in Mamit district of Mizoram. The Mamit district is situated adjacent to Khagrachari district of Southeast Bangladesh.

 

6.122 Countries adopts historic global treaty to ban Nuclear Weapons :-

The United Nations has adopted a historic global treaty banning nuclear weapons. The treaty was adopted by a vote of 122 members in favour.

The Netherlands was the only country who voted against the treaty. Singapore abstained from voting.

Costa Rica’s ambassador, Elayne Whyte Gomez, was the president of the UN conference that negotiated the treaty.

Nearly 129 countries signed up to take part in the drafting of the treaty which represents two-thirds of the UN’s193 member states.

 

7.Former Indian Ambassador to US Naresh chandra passes away in Goa :-

Former Indian Ambassador to the US Naresh Chandra died at a private hospital in Panaji on Sunday night due to multiple organ failure.He was 82.

“He was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening with complaints of fever and with myalgia (muscle pain) since three days followed with multiple episodes of vomiting and loose stools from the afternoon onwards,” Shekhar Salkar, chief of clinical services at Manipal Hospital, Goa told PTI.

 

8.Rajnath assures Sikkim govt security of NH10 :-

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured the Sikkim government on Sunday that the Centre would ensure the security of National Highway 10, the lifeline of the landlocked State where essential commodities are running short because of the Gorkhaland protests in neighbouring West Bengal.

Mr. Singh called up Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling and discussed the situation in the State, especially in areas close to West Bengal.

 

9.Super Lewis decimates India as West Indies win by 9 wkts :-

Evin Lewis once again turned out to be India’s nemesis in the shortest format with yet another magnificent hundred in West Indies’ comfortable nine wicket victory against India in the one-off T20, here on Sunday.

Chasing a competitive target of 191, Lewis smashed his way to an unbeaten 125 off 62 balls with as many as 12 sixes and six fours as the reigning World T20 champions knocked off the runs in only 18.3 overs.
