1.PM’s challenge to ONGC on the occasion of Deendayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary :-

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today invited the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation – the ONGC – to take up a challenge, on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary. Addressing officers and staff of the ONGC at a function to mark the launch of the SAUBHAGYA Yojana, the Prime Minister exhorted them to work towards making an efficient electric chulha (stove), which would enable cooking through the use of electricity.

 

2.PM launches Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana; dedicates Deendayal Urja Bhawan to the nation :-

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today launched the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, or Saubhagya, at New Delhi. The aim of this scheme is to provide power to all homes.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the Prime Minister also dedicated a new ONGC building – the Deendayal Urja Bhawan.

The Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation, the Booster Compressor Facility in Bassein Gas Field.

 

3.2nd India-Indonesia Biennial Trade Ministers’ Forum Meeting agrees to early meeting of Working Groups on Trade & Investment and Trade Facilitation & Remedies :-

The 2nd Biennial Trade Ministers Forum (BTMF) meeting was held at New Delhi between delegations led by the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, Shri Suresh Prabhu and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita.

The meeting was preceded by a Senior Official’s meeting where ground work was done for the BTMF meeting.

Both Ministers agreed for convening early meeting of the Working Group on Trade & Investment and the Working Group on Trade Facilitation & Remedies, to address the issues impeding trade and identifying means of facilitating trade and investment between India and Indonesia.

These Working Groups will also look into facilitation of services and areas of mutual interest between both the countries.

 

4.Controversial referendum issued to make Iraqi Kurdistan a separate country :-

Despite regional opposition, controversial referendum is going on to make Iraqi Kurdistan a separate country.

Poll is likely to give a vote of approximately five million people. This referendum on historic Kurdistan’s decision to step aside from Iraq is historically but not compulsive.

It shows the feelings of the Kurds and it is likely that Kurdish leaders will get the facility to communicate with the Iraqi government. in between, Turkey has said that it will not recognize the referendum.

He has warned that if his national security will create a threat from today’s referendum, then he will take all measures under international law. Iran has stopped all flights to Iraq’s autonomous Kurd region.

In an address on television, Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said that the referendum is unconstitutional.

 

5.57th national open athletics championship commencing in Chennai :-

The 57th National Open Athletics Championship is being started at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Over a thousand players from various states, departments and public sector undertakings are participating in this four-day competition.

 

6.Bajrang won gold in Asian Indoor Games :-

Indian wrestler Bajrang won the gold medal on the ninth day of the fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

Along with this, four medals of India’s medal came. Wrestler Bajrang beat Japan’s Daiichi Taktani in the freestyle category of 65 kg of men in Japan.

Two women wrestlers, Sheetal Tomar and Navjot Kaur won the bronze medal. In the freestyle, Sheetal won 48kg category and Navjot won bronze in 69kg category.

 

7.Indian pair won gold in Slovenia Open Junior and Cadet Open competition :-

In the Slovenia Open Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis Championship, the Indian pair of Man Thakkar and Manush Shah won gold medals in doubles.

He defeated Chinese Taipei’s Feng I-Sin and Tai Ming-Wei pair in Otoses, Slovenia.

 

8.830 crores investment to increase the capacity of Visakhapatnam port :-

Extending the capacity of handling (plating) iron ore goods at Vishakhapatnam port is close to completion of 23 million tonnes. 830 crores has been invested on this.

After completion of the project, the daily capacity of the port will increase from 70,000 tonnes to 1.2 lakh tonnes.

The total capacity of handling the port’s goods from 1.25 million tonnes to 23 million tonnes is to be completed.

 

9.Angela Merkel to become Chancellor of Germany for the fourth consecutive time :-

Angela Merkel is going to be the chancellor of Germany for the fourth consecutive time. According to the polls, Ms. Merkel’s party Christian Union – CDU-CSU has secured about 33 percent of the votes.

The right-wing party- Alternative for Germany-AFD has been estimated for the first time in the parliament. AFD opposed to anti-Islamists and migrants has received nearly 13 percent Afd has become the third largest party in the country.

 

10.New underground water purification plant in Agartala’s Sadatilullah started working :-

In Tripura, a new underground water purification plant of the State Urban Development Department has started functioning in Sadutilia, southern part of Agartala. Initially 565 houses will be provided with clean drinking water through pipeline.

The characteristic of this plant is that it will minimize the dirt of the water and reduce its iron content to the standard. There is also a provision for recycling of dirty water in the plant and for the storage of rain water.

The capacity of this plant is 40 lakhs eighty thousand liters per day and it will supply drinking water through thirteen thousand connections in the villages, schools, markets and institutions of Thirh villages.

According to the State Urban Development Department, the total cost of construction of this plant is 40 million ninety million, in which seventy percent contribution is of Asian Development Bank and thirty percent of Central Government.
